Summary
We are looking for a experienced night care assistant to join our team.
To provide a safe, compassionate care and supervision to residents during overnight hours, ensuring comfort, safety, and continuity of care until daytime staff arrive.
Key responsibilities
Monitor residents through rounds, observation, and alarms; respond promptly to calls and emergencies.
Assist with nighttime personal care: toileting, incontinence care, repositioning, feeding/assistance with snacks, and oral care.
Support mobility and safe transfers; use lifting aids per policy to prevent falls and injury.
Record observations (vital signs, behaviour changes, sleep patterns, incidents) and handover relevant information at shift end.
Maintain a calm, quiet environment conducive to sleep while addressing individual needs.
Perform light housekeeping related to patient care (linen changes, cleaning spills, disposing of waste).
Follow infection control, safeguarding, and health & safety procedures.
Communicate with families, on-call clinicians, and day staff as needed; escalate concerns to supervisors.
Required skills & attributes
Compassionate, patient, observant, and reliable.
Good communication and basic documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and make sound judgements overnight.
Physical ability to assist with transfers and tasks; stamina for night shift.
Basic first aid and emergency response skills.
Working conditions
Night shift hours 10:00 PM–7:00 AM; pro rota two weekly.
Typically lower staffing levels; responsibility for immediate overnight care.
Pay include's night-shift differential and overtime opportunities.
