About Vision Northumberland
We are a respected local charity supporting several thousand sensory impaired people across Northumberland.
Our services encompass one-to-one advice, information, advocacy, as well as peer support groups and various activities.
We work closely with health, social care, and community partners to ensure that sensory impaired people are recognised and supported.
Our passionate and diverse team is dedicated to making Northumberland a better place for those with sensory impairments.
The Role
The Operations Team Lead occupies a pivotal leadership position, acting as the link between our overall strategic vision and the hands-on delivery of services.
You will Report to Chair of Trustees.
You will lead on the day-to-day operations of our Centre in Morpeth and outreach support, guaranteeing that information, advice, and activities are well-coordinated and delivered to an exceptional standard.
As the lead for Safeguarding and GDPR, you will ensure all staff adhere to best practices, maintaining the centre as a safe and confidential space for vulnerable residents.
As lead for Service User Involvement, you will ensure that our service users are at the heart of the organisation.
Your responsibilities will include direct management of a varied team comprising Low Vision, Volunteer Co-ordination, Finance, Data and Communications and the Peer Network.
It will be your duty to allocate staff resources effectively, ensuring our services remain responsive and empathetic to the needs of our users.
What We’re Looking For
We seek a hands-on leader who combines operational expertise with a genuine passion for delivering outstanding services and support to sensory impaired people.
Essential Experience
• A genuine interest in people, aligning with our mission to ensure sensory impaired people are recognised, included, valued, and supported.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders Proven experience managing teams and operations within a charity, health, or social care environment.
• Sound understanding of the Care Act and experience providing or managing advice and information services, including knowledge of the challenges facing disadvantaged people.
• Technological proficiency, including experience with databases (CRMs) and a strong command of Microsoft software.
Desirable Extras
• Experience working within a large and diverse county (covering 2,000 square miles), with insight into reaching under-represented or "hidden" communities.
• Experience of working with sensory impaired people
