Summary

Neway International are seeking a Senior Practitioner (SP) with 4+ years’ experience to join our client based with Birmingham Children’s Trust.

Location: Lifford House, Birmingham
Hours: 36.5 per week

The Role
This is a 6‑month maternity cover position within a Child Protection team, requiring an experienced Senior Practitioner capable of managing complex caseloads and supporting Social Workers in delivering high‑quality safeguarding practice. You will contribute to assessments, planning and interventions, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and children’s safety remains the highest priority.

Key Responsibilities
Manage a complex Child Protection caseload, ensuring timely and effective interventions.

Lead on assessments, care planning and risk management for children and families.

Provide professional guidance, support and oversight to Social Workers within the team.

Chair multi‑agency meetings where appropriate and contribute to strategy discussions.

Ensure all work complies with statutory requirements, local procedures and best practice standards.

Maintain accurate, detailed case records and prepare high‑quality reports for court and panels.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

Contribute to team development, reflective practice and continuous service improvement.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.

Minimum 4 years’ post‑qualifying experience within Child Protection or similar statutory safeguarding services.

Strong assessment, risk analysis and decision‑making skills.

Experience supporting or mentoring Social Workers.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Enhanced DBS and full compliance documentation required.
