We are seeking a Waste Manager to take responsibility for all waste-related activity across the Royal Marsden Hospital (RMH) and Sutton Hospital, ensuring full compliance with legal, environmental, and operational requirements.​

This role plays a key part in supporting the Trust’s sustainability goals and maintaining safe, compliant waste processes across both hospital sites.

Job Description

We are looking for someone who is confident working with teams across Sutton and Chelsea, able to carry out audits, maintain accurate waste records, and use the Waste Manager portal to monitor waste activity.​

The ideal candidate will be passionate about waste management, comfortable delivering training, and capable of acting as the on-site subject matter expert (SME) for waste.

This role is split evenly between Chelsea Marsden Hospital and Sutton Hospital, with a free shuttle bus provided for travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the waste audit schedule and oversee the Waste Manager system, including action closing, reporting, and continuous improvement.

Oversee delivery of waste services across Sutton and Chelsea, ensuring full Trust and ISS compliance.

Carry out waste audits, log all waste movements, and maintain accurate documentation.

Liaise with central teams to optimise waste collection schedules and identify service improvements.

Develop and deliver monthly Waste Segregation training sessions for up to 20 staff per session.

Support Trust teams in improving waste processes, increasing recycling, and meeting sustainability objectives.

Manage the completion of Waste Transfer Notes, delegating tasks to supervisors where necessary.

Analyse waste reporting data to identify opportunities to help the Trust achieve its waste targets.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Experience delivering waste management services within a healthcare setting.

A genuine passion for waste management and sustainability.

Confident delivering clear, engaging training sessions to staff at all levels.

Ability to act as on-site Waste SME, working effectively with stakeholders across ISS and the client organisation.

Strong influencing and relationship-building skills.

Ability to set measurable goals that support excellent service performance.

Excellent reporting capability with strong attention to detail.

Good MS Office skills.

Nice to Have:

Membership with the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM).
