Summary
The post holder will work within an established epilepsy specialist nursing service for adults with intellectual disability. The service is an integral part of a wider multidisciplinary epilepsy team in Nottinghamshire providing diagnosis and treatment of complex epilepsies and associated health conditions through specialist nurse-led clinics, community home visits, and telephone advice. The post holder will assist in the delivery and continued development of a high quality, specialist service to adults with Intellectual Disability and teenagers in transition. The person will work in partnership with epilepsy colleagues in Neurology at Nottingham University Hospitals to deliver a countywide integrated Epilepsy and Intellectual Disability Specialist Service. The post holder will act as a source of specialist advice and information for patients, carers, and health professionals. The post holder will promote patient focussed care and act as a resource for Intellectual Disability Service colleagues. The post holder will maintain a high level of awareness of relevant research, best practice and National recommendations and ensure this is reflected in their clinical practice. The post holder will be a Non-Medical Prescriber or be willing to undertake the NMP course. The post holder will provide evidence-based training and education to patients, carers, healthcare professionals and social care services. Please note that this post does not meet the pay or skill level required for a Skilled worker visa. Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
