We are currently seeking a dedicated Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join a supportive primary school in Richmond. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting the emotional wellbeing of pupils, helping them build resilience and social skills to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Responsibilities
- Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group sessions focused on emotional literacy and wellbeing.
- Supporting pupils with a range of needs, including self-esteem, social skills, and emotional regulation.
- Planning and assessing sessions using tools such as the Boxall Profile.
- Working closely with the school SENCO and class teachers to monitor pupil progress.
- Creating a safe, therapeutic space for children to explore and communicate their feelings.
Essential Candidate Requirements
- Recognised ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training or qualification.
- Proven experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) or SEND.
- A naturally empathetic and encouraging approach to pupil development.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with staff and parents.
