Breast Screening Clinical Nurse Specialist
Central & East London Breast Screening Service. Based at Saint Bartholomew’s Hospital.
7.5 Hours per week every Wednesday 8:30am-5pm
This is an exciting time to be working at the Royal Free London Breast screening service with our expanding service delivery across North, Central and East London. Our breast screening population is currently 400,000 making us one of the biggest breast screening services in the UK.
We are looking for a band 7 Breast Screening Clinical Nurse Specialist to support the CELBSS Breast Screening Service at our Barts site. CELBSS offers screening in seven locations across London including Camden, Islington, City and Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, and Waltham Forest.
The successful candidate will be expected to
To be the key worker for breast screening patients who have been recalled for assessment. Act as their advocate whilst co-ordinating their care pathway from assessment through to discharge /diagnosis and referral on for further treatment.
To provide holistic care and support through counselling, educating, advising, and supporting emotional needs.
To manage junior members of the breast care nursing team in the absence of the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Co-ordinate health promotion both internally and externally
To have a leading role in service improvement and development.
The successful candidate is required to be able demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. You should have proven experience of working
In a clinical background, with experience and knowledge of treating Breast Cancer /breast disease and breast screening clients.
A first level degree or working towards this.
A specialist qualification in advanced breast care practice
Counselling Skills training and experience
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
The ability to priorities, work independently as well as within a team.

All applicants should have valid NMC registration; the post holder must be a qualified Clinical Nurse Specialist holding the Diploma (DCR) or Degree (BSc) in Nursing.
Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to providing the best possible quality of care to patients attending assessment clinics is essential.
