Summary

Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services everyday and local businesses thrive. To date we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms uniquely committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.

Groupon is on a radical journey to transform our business with relentless pursuit of results. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success. The impact here can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of our transformation. We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact.

The role
As an Accounting Manager in London, you aren’t just "closing the books." You are the operational lead for our Global AR accounting team, responsible for ensuring technical integrity under US GAAP while aggressively pursuing process automation. You will manage a team of 1-3, acting as the primary filter between raw financial data and our global leadership’s decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Operational Oversight: Own the AR global month-end close process, ensuring all entries and reconciliations are accurate and SOX-compliant.
- Technical Review: Review high-risk balance sheet reconciliations and US GAAP entries prepared by the team.
- Audit & Compliance: Act as the lead point of contact for internal and external auditors; maintain a robust SOX control environment.
- Transformation: Identify manual bottlenecks and implement AI or automation solutions to reduce "time-to-close."
- Business Partnering: Work with product and revenue teams to ensure new business initiatives are correctly mapped to our financial systems

Key Requirements

- Qualification: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
- Technical: Strong grip on US GAAP and IFRS.
- Leadership: Proven experience managing at least 2 people.
- Systems: Proficiency in NetSuite (preferred), advanced Excel and AI-integrated accounting tools.

Nice to Have

- Experience with SQL, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Previous experience in a high-growth tech environment or a US-listed company.

What Success Looks Like

Success is a "no-surprises" month-end. You’ll know you’re winning when the audit is seamless, your team is hitting deadlines without burnout, and you have automated at least one manual reconciliation process within your first 6 months.

We Are Interested In
People who are frustrated by manual work. We want an accountant who thinks like a systems engineer—someone who wants to solve the root cause of a variance rather than just reporting it.

This is a hybrid role based on two mandatory days in the office per week.
If you’re ready to join a dynamic team, apply now. We look forward to reviewing your application!
