About us

Our Markets business is growing fast, and this is an exciting opportunity for an Enterprise Architect to shape our future target architecture. You will help solve meaningful business challenges by applying modern technology and building strong partnerships across the organisation.

You will support the Markets platform by designing clear and actionable architectures that strengthen Lloyds Banking Group's client offerings and contribute to our mission of Helping Britain Prosper. This is a collaborative role where your ideas and expertise will influence both business outcomes and technology direction.

About the role

As the lead Enterprise Architect you will lead a small team and be accountable for all architectural decisions within your area. You will guide, challenge, and support the Markets teams as they develop and deliver strategic roadmaps. You will also represent the voice of the business when working with Group Enabling Platforms to ensure technology delivery aligns with business priorities.

You will build trusted relationships across platforms, functions, and third‑party vendors. Your insight into Markets / Investment banking will help shape business propositions, vendor products and industry partnerships so they better support our Commercial clients.

You will work in an agile environment on complex and high‑impact challenges. The role calls for leadership, problem solving, and the ability to bring clarity to technical and business decisions. Enterprise Architecture at Lloyds Banking Group plays a key role in setting direction and ensuring that architecturally significant outcomes are delivered.

What you'll need

* Breadth of experience in architecture - financial services, Markets/Investment banking would be an advantage.
* High level understanding of cloud architecture. We use Azure, but AWS or GCP experience is also desirable. You should be able to explain concepts clearly and engage a wide range of partners to implement them.
* Strong experience in shaping, influencing, and leading architectural outcomes for a mid to large organisation, including active participation in architectural forums.
* Good technology knowledge across areas such as domain‑driven design, API and event‑based architectures, microservices, event‑driven design, hybrid cloud deployment models, DevOps and CI/CD, modern data paradigms, cyber security, resilience by design, and sustainability.
* Sound awareness of emerging technologies, for example GenAI, including their maturity, potential business applications, and how they align to long‑term strategy.
* A strong team player with an open, collaborative, approachable, and friendly style, working well with colleagues at all levels, building strong relationships, and breaking down barriers.
* Ability to use strong storytelling skills, both written and verbal, when presenting recommendations in line with priorities.
* Proven success in establishing a culture of continuous improvement and driving innovation.
* Experience working in established, complex organisations with large customer bases, giving you a good appreciation of non‑functional considerations and how to design systems accordingly.
