Based across all Suffolk New College campuses (on-site)



This is an exciting opportunity to join the Estates & Facilities team at Suffolk New College as Health and Safety Manager. Our award-winning College has established but growing sites at Ipswich, Rural (Otley) and Halesworth. Our Leiston provision will soon to be transformed, moving to a brand-new college in the near future.

This is your opportunity to play a vital role in championing a culture of safety across all our campuses. As our go-to expert for all things health and safety, you’ll lead on strategy, systems, and support that empower staff and students to take ownership of safety in their daily lives.



What You’ll Be Doing:

Acting as the primary contact for health and safety matters across the College
Driving awareness and behavioural ownership of health and safety among staff and students
Leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of the College’s health and safety management systems
Conducting inspections, audits, and providing practical recommendations for continual improvement
Working closely with academic and support teams to embed high standards of safety in every department
Reporting to senior leaders with insights on trends, legislation, and strategic recommendations



What We’re Looking For:

We’re after a confident communicator who is comfortable:

Talking with staff at all levels, from classroom to boardroom
Turning complex legislation into practical, accessible guidance
Inspiring positive change and promoting a “safety-first” mindset



You’ll also need:

A NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety
Maths and English at Level 2 (or equivalent)
A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle
Strong, up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation



Travel:

This role spans all four of our campuses, so flexibility and mobility are a must.
