Summary
Job Title: Relief Bank - Housing and Resettlement Worker
Location: Luton (Actual location hidden due to the confidentiality of the service)
Salary: £12.60 + 12.07% annual leave accrual paid monthly
Shift Pattern: Flexible role to service needs.
Please note, due to the nature of the service, it is an occupational requirement that the post holder is female and the post is therefore exempt from the provisions of the Equality Act 2010 in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1, and Paragraph 1 of the Act.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Relief Bank - Housing and Resettlement Worker, you will be based within a women's accommodation based service which supports homeless families in Luton. The service has 7 units of accommodation which supports:
Expectant mothers
Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10
Single women aiming to have guardianship of their children
You will provide person centred support to families to help end the cycle of homelessness, enabling long term sustained living. You will provide basic interventions and guidance around resettlement and independent living, as well as provide personal support around areas such as domestic violence, offending activity, mental health, substance use, parenting skills, and safety in the home.
The support provided is flexible and individualised so that families can progress in a way that suits them. You will do this through support sessions, projects and activities, signposting and general wellbeing support. You will support in wider areas which can include supporting with custody arrangements, mediation, supervised contact, and creating a safe space for families.
You may also be expected to support in our other services, one which is a residential for males, which can include lone working at times.

Bridge House Luton delivers accommodation-based housing related support to homeless families in Luton. The service has 7 units of accommodation that can comprises of:
Expectant mothers
Mothers with up to two children under the age of 10
Single women aiming to have guardianship of their children
Our service is designed to work with families to gain the valuable skills required to end the cycle of homelessness and enable future independently sustained living. Support is provided in a flexible, individualised approach so that families can progress in a way that suits both parent and child’s needs whilst in a safe and stable environment.
Assistance can range from basic interventions and guidance around resettlement and gaining/sustaining independent living to more intense support in areas such as
Domestic violence
Offending / Ex-offending
Mental health
Substance use
Parenting skills – Including Child Protection, custody arrangements, mediation, supervised contact
Safety in the home / family wellbeing.
About You
You will have:
You will be able to show empathy and compassion to our residents, and different challenges they face
You will be able to motivate, and empower others to achieve their personal goals and overcome barriers
You will need some level of IT ability as we record records using our online CRM systems and use Microsoft programs daily
You will have previous experience working with people with multiple and complex needs, ideally in mental health
You will have previous experience in creating co-produced support plans, key working, and care plans
You will understand the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs and be aware of the social marginalisation that can be attached to people who face personal challenges
KEY CRITERIA
What we are looking for:
IT Proficiency, ability to learn new software programs, basic Microsoft experience is required
Experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, including in the criminal justice field, mental health, and/or substance misuse or a good understanding of the sector
Understanding of the housing and social needs of people with multiple and complex needs
Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with others
What we would like, but not essential:
Appropriate qualification: NVQ/Diploma Level 2 in Health & Social Care/Community Justice, or professional equivalent
Experience of providing housing support and a practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role
