Summary
At FBC UK, baking biscuits isn’t just a job – it’s a passion. Born from the coming together of two of the UK’s most loved biscuit makers, Burton’s Biscuits and Fox’s Biscuits, FBC UK is now home to some truly iconic brands including Maryland, Fox’s, Jammie Dodger and Rocky, as well as being a trusted manufacturing partner to some of the UK’s biggest retailers and household names. While FBC UK is currently the second-largest biscuit manufacturer in the UK, their ambition is clear: to become the market leader.
The secret ingredient behind this success is people. The teams at FBC UK bring energy, pride and commitment to everything they do, and they are now looking for someone who could be the jam to their dodger, the party ring to their Fox’s, or the choc-chip to their Maryland. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and bring enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
As a Machine Minder, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of processing equipment while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and health and safety. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include completing pre-start checks, operating machinery safely and efficiently, carrying out quality and specification checks, fault-finding and basic problem solving, supporting machine changeovers, line cleaning, and start-up and shutdown procedures. You will work closely with Line and Process Leaders, communicate effectively with colleagues across the shift, liaise with engineering teams when needed, and ensure thorough handovers at the start and end of each shift. As your skills develop, you will also have the opportunity to train new team members and learn additional plant and equipment.
To be successful in this role, you will need a good level of spoken and written English to follow instructions and communicate clearly, along with basic numeracy skills to support operational tasks. A strong attention to detail is essential, particularly when completing checks and documentation, as is a commitment to hygiene and food safety standards. Previous experience operating machinery or a basic mechanical understanding would be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
Ideally, you will also bring a quality-focused mindset, good time management skills and a positive, can-do attitude. Being a team player who can adapt to change, think on their feet and stay comfortable working in a physically active role will help you thrive. A Level 2 Food Safety qualification is desirable, but not essential, as training can be provided.
If you’re looking for a stable, permanent opportunity with a well-known manufacturer that values its people and invests in development, this could be your chance to be part of something special at FBC UK.
Reed are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC UK) for a permanent Machine Minder role based at their Batley site, WF17 5JE. This is a full-time position working weekend day shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 7pm, offering a competitive pay rate of £12.90 per hour, paid monthly.
