Summary
St Edward’s School is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Grounds Manager to join its Grounds Department, working across the School’s extensive and picturesque 100-acre estate.
This is an excellent opportunity for an established grounds professional looking to take the next step in their career within a school environment. Working closely with the Grounds Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and presenting the School’s grounds and sports facilities to a high standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Day-to-day maintenance of lawns, landscaped areas, residential spaces and sports surfaces
- Preparation, renovation and maintenance of sports pitches, including specialist cricket square work
- Hedge maintenance, planting, pruning and general horticultural tasks
- Turf care, footpath maintenance and ensuring the grounds are clean, safe and well presented
- Safe and competent use of a wide range of grounds machinery and equipment
- Supporting and guiding grounds staff as required
About you:
You will have significant experience maintaining school, estate or sports grounds, with strong knowledge of sports-pitch preparation and renovation, particularly cricket squares. You will be confident working independently, have a good understanding of health and safety in an outdoor environment, and be comfortable supporting others in a leadership capacity.
