About the Crown Prosecution Service

At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

About the role

As a paralegal officer, you’re on the frontline of our service, supporting prosecution teams in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. You manage casework throughout the criminal justice process - preparing evidence, completing legal applications and providing practical support to victims and witnesses. You represent the Crown Prosecution Service in meetings with partner agencies including the police, probation service and judiciary.

About you

You don’t need specific qualifications to apply – if you share our values and commitment to public service, we’d like to hear from you. Our structured training plan gives you the skills and knowledge you need to help us deliver justice. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the work of the Crown Prosecution Service and our role in the wider criminal justice system.
