Summary
We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Swindon to assist with the appointment of a Community Safety Officer on a 9-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Summary:
The Community Safety Officer is a vital frontline role dedicated to creating a safe, resilient, and welcoming environment within the Swindon Borough. You will serve as a high-visibility deterrent to anti-social behaviour (ASB) and environmental crime through active foot and vehicle patrols. By balancing enforcement powers with proactive community engagement, you will address local concerns, support vulnerable residents, and work alongside partners like the police to improve the overall quality of life for the community.
Responsibilities:
Conduct regular patrols across parks, town centres, and residential neighbourhoods to provide public reassurance and deter nuisance activity.
Enforce local authority powers, including Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs), dog control regulations, and littering bylaws.
Act as a bridge between the council and the public, engaging with businesses, schools, and residents to offer safety and crime prevention advice.
Respond swiftly to reports of ASB or environmental hazards, ensuring all incidents are logged accurately on council IT systems.
Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns for children or vulnerable adults in accordance with statutory procedures.
Qualifications:
A basic understanding of ASB legislation and local authority enforcement powers (though specific training will be provided).
Basic proficiency in IT for digital reporting, record keeping, and communication.
Essentials:
Proven ability to remain calm, confident, and professional when de-escalating challenging or confrontational situations.
Previous experience in a public-facing role such as community safety, enforcement, security, or the military/police service is highly desirable.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
