Summary
To be the deputy accountable pharmacist in the leading and delivery of chemotherapy production services.
To be responsible for the daily delivery of chemotherapy service delivery
To be responsible for ensuring the requirements of the chemotherapy quality management system are maintained and developed as required by the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS), national and NHS guidance.
To work with the Clinical Trials team responsible for the set up and delivery of chemotherapy based clinical trials for GSTT and commercial sponsored trials to ensure full preparation and clinical regulatory compliance.
The Pharmacy Chemotherapy Preparation and Dispensing Unit (CPDU) works alongside other specialist Clinical and Administration teams in the delivery of Cancer Services at Guy's and St Thomas Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
CPDU is a multicultural team dedicated to equality, diversity and inclusion. The unit provides over 4000 chemotherapy doses per month. How the unit provides the service and what is done as a team to deliver it are fundamental to core working practices.
The team is dedicated to the training, development and confidence building of all staff towards maintaining a safe and excellent service delivery.
To be the deputy accountable pharmacist (as defined in the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services 5th edition) in leading and delivering chemotherapy production services for the Trust.
To ensure that the chemotherapy units’ pharmaceutical quality management system is maintained and developed in accordance with the QAAPS, national and NHS guidance requirements and in response to changes in regulations and legislation.
To supervise the work of the Technical and Clinical Pharmacists, Chief Technician and Principle Technicians to ensure all products are prepared in accordance to current guidelines. To ensure that all activities undertaken within the unit meet current legislation such as GMP/GDP, GCP, Health and Safety, COSSH, and that all work documentation and procedures meet these regulations.
