Following a restructure the Council are currently recruiting for some key management roles in their finance team. These positions will support the Strategic Leads in developing a finance team with a business partnering culture focused on continuous improvements to ensure they are providing the financial information that senior leaders need to make informed decisions, helping achieve the Councils ambitious plans.
The role reports into the Strategic Finance Lead (Corporate Resources) and will play a lead role in delivering the Council’s grouped statement of accounts, supporting the integrity of the Council’s core accounting systems and has oversight of the Council’s Balance Sheet. Key responsibilities will include;
- Supporting the timely preparation and production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts
- Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Council, Council entities and with the External Auditor
- Providing technical advice and support to both finance and non-finance stakeholders across the Council
- Maintaining control of the Council’s Balance Sheet to ensure the on-going financial resilience of the Council
To be suitable for the role you need to be a fully qualified accountant with experience in technical finance roles in a complex setting, ideally in the public sector. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to a range of stakeholders is also essential. Applications from those in Practice with exposure to public sector clients are also encouraged.
