About this role
Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Job Type: Full Time – Temporary (3 Months) [Part time would also be considered]
Salary: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)

The Role
Our client, a well-established accountancy practice based in Bury, is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join their team on a temporary basis for approximately three months.
This role has been created to provide additional support while the team works through a backlog of client work. The successful candidate will be an experienced practice professional who can quickly integrate into the team, manage workloads independently, and help bring assignments back on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
As an Accounts Senior, duties will include:
Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
Producing year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
Preparation and review of management accounts
Corporation tax computations and returns
Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Assisting with personal tax returns where required
Liaising directly with clients to obtain records and resolve queries
Supporting junior team members and reviewing work where appropriate
Ensuring deadlines are met and work is completed to a high professional standard
Assisting the practice in reducing workflow backlog and maintaining delivery timelines
Working with cloud accounting software and client bookkeeping records
Identifying process improvements and helping streamline current workloads
Candidate Requirements
Previous accountancy practice experience is essential
Qualified or part-qualified AAT, ACA, or ACCA, or qualified by significant relevant experience
Strong experience preparing accounts independently
Good working knowledge of accounting and tax compliance
Experience using accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar)
Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
Excellent communication and client-facing skills
Desirable Skills
Experience reviewing junior staff work
Exposure to a varied SME client portfolio
Ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes
Contract Details
Full-time hours [part time will also be considered]
Temporary contract for approximately 3 months
Immediate or short-notice availability preferred
Office-based in Bury (flexibility may be considered depending on experience)
