Summary
Interim Financial Controller - 12 - 18 months Location: Teesside
Duration: Initial 12- 18 month contract
Hays are currently working with an energy company who are seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Financial Controller to lead the finance function during a critical period of transition and growth. This is a hands-on role with wide-ranging responsibilities across financial reporting, budgeting, tax, and team management.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead all month-end reporting and financial reviews and deliver insightful commentary to senior management.
- Own the trial balance, balance sheet reconciliations, and capital expenditure analysis.
- Manage VAT and tax returns, corporation tax accounts, and ensure timely payments.
- Oversee the transaction team, conducting appraisals and mentoring.
- Drive the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts.
- Liaise with external auditors, HMRC, rating consultants, and credit insurers.
- Act as a business partner to regional managers, supporting operational reporting and driving process improvements.
- Serve as superuser for Sage and ensure system integrity.
✅ What We're Looking For
- Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA).
- Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
- High attention to detail and a proactive, deadline-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Broad experience in end-to-end financial reporting.
- Experience in Sage Line 50 is desirable.
