Summary
Neway International are seeking a Property Maintenance Officer to join our client based with West Sussex County Council.

Hours: 37 per week
Start date: 16 February 2026
Work pattern: Mostly out and about, 5 days per week
Pay rates: PAYE £14.13 per hour / Ltd & Umbrella £18.29 per hour

The Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Service (RRMS) plays a vital role in ensuring families arriving from conflict‑affected countries are provided with safe, suitable and welcoming accommodation. Their work is practical, hands‑on and community‑focused, supporting some of the most vulnerable residents as they begin rebuilding their lives.
The Role
The Property Maintenance Officer will support the Refugee, Resettlement and Migration Team by preparing accommodation for resettled families. Working closely with the Property Preparation Officer, you will carry out a wide range of practical tasks to ensure homes are safe, functional and ready for occupation.
This is an active, physical role involving regular travel across West Sussex (a vehicle is provided). You will work as part of a two‑person team, spending most of your time out in the community completing property preparation and maintenance tasks.
An Enhanced DBS is required.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Property Preparation Officer in preparing accommodation for resettled families.
Carry out practical property tasks including furniture assembly, transporting items, painting and decorating.
Maintain exterior gardens and undertake basic repairs to household items where required.
Ensure all properties meet required standards before families move in.
Work safely and efficiently while handling equipment, tools and materials.
Provide good customer service when interacting with residents, colleagues and members of the public.
Travel across West Sussex to complete scheduled property preparation tasks (vehicle provided).
Work collaboratively as part of a two‑person team to meet deadlines and service requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Practical experience in property maintenance, facilities work or similar hands‑on roles.
Ability to carry out physical tasks including lifting, assembling, decorating and basic repairs.
Good communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with the public.
Reliable, organised and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Willingness to work across multiple locations throughout West Sussex.
Enhanced DBS required.
