TeacherActive are working closely with secondary schools across the Oldham area and are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable SENCo professionals to support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference to students’ learning and wellbeing.

As a SENCo, you will play a key role in coordinating SEND provision across the school, supporting teaching staff, and ensuring that students receive the appropriate interventions and support to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
• Identify, assess, and monitor pupils with additional learning needs.
• Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
• Provide guidance and advice to staff on inclusive teaching practices and behaviour support.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to EHCP reviews and meetings.

Requirements

• Relevant qualifications and/or experience working as a SENCo or within SEND provision.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive education strategies.
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
