Summary

Reception Duties Provide an efficient, professional and welcoming reception service for patients and other visitors to the Practice. Open up/lock up practice premises as required on a rota basis Handle general enquiries, explain procedures, and schedule new or follow-up appointments. Process online appointment requests via the practice digital system Use judgment and communication skills to manage patients without prior appointments who require urgent consultation, ensuring minimal disruption. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients or those seeking temporary cover, ensuring all necessary procedures are completed. Hand completed letters, or forms to patients, checking ID to maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and Practice guidance. Be capable of covering all reception tasks as needed. Patient Adviser Responsibilities Improve patient access to primary care and help reduce pressure on GPs and the wider team Provide clear, accurate information about the full range of services available both inside and outside the Practice, enabling patients to make informed choices. Act as a face to face first point of contact for patients, directing them to the most appropriate source of help at the right time, in the right place, and with the right person Computer and Administrative Tasks Use the Practice computer system to book, cancel, or amend appointments, check patient information, and update patient records as necessary. Action tasks assigned to the reception team promptly. Additional Duties This job description is not exhaustive.
