The Union Housing Scheme supports adults with severe and enduring mental health needs. We offer a safe, supportive environment where people can develop confidence, build daily living skills and feel part of their community. Your contribution will help people move towards greater independence in a way that is respectful, encouraging and person centred.
As an Assistant Residential Service Worker, you will work directly with residents to help them feel safe, settled and supported in their day to day lives. Your responsibilities will include:
• Assisting with the assessment and planning of individual support needs
• Encouraging involvement in daily routines and community activities
• Providing support with household tasks and maintaining agreed standards in shared and individual spaces
• Recording observations and sharing concerns about wellbeing with senior staff
• Helping with budgeting, medication routines and other practical tasks within agreed procedures
• Maintaining accurate records and contributing positively to a small, supportive team
This is a hands on role focused on providing practical, emotional and routine support that helps people build confidence and stability.
We welcome applicants who are motivated, compassionate and confident working with people who may be vulnerable or in distress. You will need:
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience supporting people in a caring, health or community setting
• An understanding of mental health needs, confidentiality and equality
• Basic IT skills and the ability to keep accurate records
• A Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes
This is a 24 hour service, and you will work a rota including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep ins, across a variety of premises in the Halifax area.
