Summary
I am currently supporting a highly respected British Contractor with their Search for a Regional Aftercare Manager. This role ensures that newly completed and occupied school facilities are maintained to agreed standards, all defects and issues are managed efficiently, and client satisfaction is achieved throughout the post-handover period.
About the role
- Lead and manage the aftercare service for multiple school projects during the post-handover and defects liability periods, ensuring that all issues are logged, tracked, and resolved in line with contractual obligations and internal quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal project teams, subcontractors, and external service providers to prioritise and execute timely reactive and planned maintenance work, snagging rectification, and minor repairs.
- Serve as the primary client contact for aftercare matters, maintaining clear communication with school stakeholders, client representatives, and facilities teams.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory regulations, and quality requirements throughout all aftercare activities.
- Monitor and report on aftercare performance, including defect trends, maintenance outcomes, response times, and status of outstanding actions to senior management.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation (such as snag logs, inspections, warranties, and maintenance schedules) to support continuity of service and future improvements.
- Work with the commercial and operations teams to support lessons learned and continual improvement of aftercare processes across the education portfolio.
Requirements
- Experience in aftercare, facilities, or maintenance management within the construction or building services sector, ideally with exposure to education, public sector, or multi-site estates.
- Strong understanding of building systems, maintenance planning, defect management, and handover processes.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills to build positive relationships with clients and internal delivery teams.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and conflicting priorities across a large geographical region.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to school sites throughout the UK.
