Join us as a Client Portfolio Manager

  • We’re looking for a Client Portfolio Manager with experience of managing discretionary clients and deep knowledge of financial markets and instruments across the long only and alternative space
  • In this key role, you’ll be providing a high quality investment management service to existing clients, ensuring the highest level of client service, investment management and regulatory discipline at all times
  • Day-to-day, you’ll focus on all aspects of ongoing client servicing, pitching for new business, networking with coverage colleagues and attracting top ups from existing clients
  • This is an opportunity to raise your career profile with the work you do, while building collaborative relationships with a range of key stakeholders
  • You'll work from home some of the time, but you'll also spend at least six days a month working in the Manchester office

What you'll do

As a Client Portfolio Manager, you’ll be representing the business's investment house view to a book of core investment clients, as well as prospective investment clients. You’ll hold responsibility for all aspects of ongoing client servicing for criteria clients, in line with our right client right adviser principles.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Being accountable for meeting business objectives; winning new and retaining existing criteria clients in line with the business’ investment philosophy and policies
  • Handing over prospect cases to colleagues where appropriate, for example, Advisory Portfolio Service, where the client type is outside your remit
  • Presenting the business' investment house view and strategy at internal and client events
  • Safely and effectively delivering client investment proposals, fully incorporating any client imposed investment restrictions in line with relevant policies
  • Maintaining and developing your knowledge of relevant investment management techniques, disciplines, and skillsets to provide the appropriate service to clients

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need deep investment knowledge and a hunger to win business and grow your book. You’ll also have the necessary qualifications or prerequisites for local regulatory authorisation.

In addition, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Significant experience of relevant financial market and instruments along with Discretionary portfolio management techniques
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • A proven track record of engaging with private clients at all levels of investment sophistication
