Job ResponsibilitiesUnder the general supervision of the Headteacher, carry out a range of duties to contribute to the security, safety and day-to-day maintenance of the school premises.Act as the main keyholder, responsible for locking and unlocking the school premises and managing security alarm systems.Respond to alarm call-outs and emergency situations in accordance with agreed procedures.Carry out regular checks on alarm systems, fire extinguishers and safety equipment and report any issues.Identify and report building, furnishing or fittings deficiencies and undertake authorised remedial actions, including arranging emergency repairs and obtaining quotes from contractors.Escort contractors and monitor safety and quality of work on site.Take delivery of goods and equipment and arrange storage or distribution, maintaining appropriate documentation.Oversee the operation of the school heating systems, monitoring efficiency and energy usage.Monitor electricity, water and fuel usage and take meter readings as required.Clean defined areas of the school and respond to emergency cleaning needs.Maintain the safety and tidiness of external areas, including litter removal, gritting and ensuring safe access in severe weather.Ensure cloakroom and toilet facilities are maintained and adequately stocked.Set out and clear away furniture for school events and undertake porterage duties as required.Arrange collection of school waste.Act as a positive role model and support school policies when dealing with pupils or visitors.Complete daily site safety checks, including safeguarding observations.
