Summary
Grade I Scp 31 £41,771 to Scp 35 £46,142, plus car allowance

The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to manage Bolton Councils Trading Standards Team which sits within Regulatory Services who cover statutory functions of Food Control, Health & Safety, Licensing, Pollution Control, Environmental Education and Enforcement, Dog Warden Service and Pest Control.

You will be responsible for the line management of officers across the scope of Trading Standards disciplines. The role involves delivering service plan objectives, overseeing inspection programmes delivering projects, working in partnership, supporting officers on complex technical and legal matters and supporting the development of new staff members.
The Team plays an integral role in the control of counterfeit goods, preventing the supply of unsafe consumer products, Weights and Measures control, protecting vulnerable people from being targeted by rogue traders and undertaking product safety inspections.
The current priorities of the team include partnership working to tackle the trade in illicit goods such as tobacco, illegal vaping products and other harmful substances sold to the wider community and underage youths.
You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic and demanding environment, overseeing the day-to-day management of a Team of dedicated officers that are passionate to make a difference in Bolton and protect the public from harm. The work is varied and challenging, and the role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and experience within our team.
About You:
You must be a qualified Trading Standards Officer holding the Diploma in Trading Standards (DTS) or equivalent and possess a full current driving licence.
You must be qualified in Weights and Measures and have good knowledge in the areas of Animal Welfare and Feed.
A willingness to work in partnership with individuals, other departments and external bodies is essential as this is an area Bolton Council is continuously developing to provide maximum capacity to react, respond and be resilient as a service.
You must have proven experience of leading on trading standards work, as well as the ability to carry out enforcement activity on a variety of Trading Standards matters.
Effective organisational skills in controlling an operational workload and the maintenance of appropriate records are key.
