Summary

Location: Surrey/Crawley


We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established food manufacturing business seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join on a part-time, hourly-paid basis.

This is a senior, autonomous role offering 25 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may vary in line with business needs. Hybrid working is available.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will have full responsibility for all technical, quality, and food safety functions, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all Technical, Quality & Food Safety activities

Manage and develop the Quality Management System

Ensure compliance with BRC Global Standard (A&B) and lead BRC and customer audits

Maintain and manage the HACCP plan (HACCP Level 2+)

Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement

Manage suppliers, non-conformances, customer complaints, and NPD technical support

Implement customer technical requirements and attend customer audits (occasional overseas travel)

Oversee online customer and specification systems (e.g. Micros, Oscar, Hamilton Grant)

About You

Degree-level qualification in Food Science or a related discipline

HACCP Level 2 or above

Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, BRC, and quality systems

Experience within a food manufacturing environment

Confident, personable, and professional, able to engage with customers, auditors, and suppliers

Highly organised, detail-focused, and flexible in approach
