Summary
We are looking for a motivated and committed individual to join our Asset Management team. We have some flexibility to location but will be based in one of our UK offices. The role will involve a mixture of fieldwork, office work and potentially some home working, depending on workload and other influences.
You will be joining an award-winning environmental and engineering consultancy which puts innovation, sustainability and resilience at the heart of its work. We are independent and staff-owned under a stewardship model which drives long term decision making and investment. We have offices in the UK, Ireland, Romania, India, Singapore and Australia.
Our people are all important and we invest heavily in life-long learning and skills development. We are always on the lookout for talented, committed and inspiring people to join us in our ambition to lead in the pursuit for resilience to climate change. In return, we offer rewarding careers with continued opportunities and dedicated support for personal development. Build your career with us and help us to build a more resilient future. JBA supports hybrid working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.

The role will include a mixture of carrying out detailed topographical surveys, asset inspections and other data gathering, following through the processing to creating final reporting of results. Duties will also involve establishing safe systems of working, assessing potential risk, establishing efficient data capture methodologies, and ensuring a high quality of service is provided to clients.
Robust data capture methods must be adopted in the field using a range of technologies, and the survey processing will be through various software packages, including Trimble Business Centre, LSS, Pix4D, AutoCAD and QGIS. Innovative data capture and processing of 3D datasets is vital to the way we work. Deliverables support works in relation to on-going engineering design, environmental assessment and asset management related projects.
Hands-on experience of different geospatial data capture techniques will be seen as an advantage. This will include ground-based methods and may include aerial drone surveys.
You will be able to demonstrate that you are able to:
• Work proactively and be able to work independently and unsupervised.
• Take responsibility for own work and that of the survey team you lead.
• Provide a sound understanding of health & safety and best practice standards relating to Land Surveying.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Working outside in unpleasant weather will sometimes be required. There may be the need to work outside normal working hours, stay away from home during the week and the ability to adapt to varied and different working environments is important.
Candidates must have the following:
• Proven land surveying capability, with sufficient experience to lead topographical detail surveys both safely and professionally.
• Competent in the use of various land-based survey technologies i.e. GNSS, Total Station, laser scanner.
• Excellent IT skills, including AutoCAD, GIS and standard MS Office programmes, as well as a recognised surveying processing software i.e. LSS or equivalent.
• A current UK driving licence, to permit unsupervised driving in the UK.
• Ability to carry out physical fieldwork which can be long and tiring days.
• A willingness to travel throughout the UK, and to work outside in adverse weather conditions.
Desirable attributes for the role
• Experience in innovative 3D data capture, processing and presentation of datasets.
• A relevant technical degree/HND in surveying or a related discipline.
• Membership of a professional body or currently working towards membership.
