Summary

Fixed term - 12 months



Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for two Environmental Enforcement Support Officers to support the delivery of the Community Safety function across the city.

These roles play a vital part in protecting Sunderlandandrsquo;s neighbourhoods by supporting action against environmental crime, including fly-tipping and waste-related offences that negatively impact residents and communities.

andnbsp;

Working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary Community Safety team, you will provide practical, on-the-ground support to investigations and enforcement activity, helping to ensure that environmental issues are dealt with proportionately, professionally, and effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

Responding to reports of fly-tipping and environmental crime
Gathering evidence, carrying out enquiries, and supporting enforcement investigations
Working outdoors across the city in all weather conditions
Operating Council vehicles and equipment safely and professionally
Engaging with members of the public and partner organisations to support safer neighbourhoodsandnbsp;

Essential requirements:


Full driving licence with entitlement to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (Category C1)
Ability to work a 5 over 7 rota, including evenings and weekends
Experience in a public-facing or operational role
Confident communication skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally
A proactive, problem-solving approach and a commitment to community safetyandnbsp;
