An expanding organisation delivering complex construction and engineering projects across the UK is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to strengthen their on‑site and project‑based safety capability.

The role supports a diverse portfolio of technically challenging schemes delivered within operational environments, ensuring health and safety is embedded from early planning through to site delivery and ongoing operation. This is a practical, site‑focused position suited to someone who enjoys being visible on projects, working closely with teams, contractors and clients to support safe, efficient delivery.
The RoleYou will play a key part in supporting projects from pre‑construction through to delivery and operation, offering clear, pragmatic safety guidance that aligns with how work is actually carried out on site.

Working alongside project, construction and operational teams, you will help identify and manage risks in a realistic, solutions‑focused manner. The role involves regular site engagement and strong relationship‑building across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Leadership

  • Provide day‑to‑day support to project and site teams on all H&S matters
  • Oversee safe delivery of construction and project activities across multiple UK sites
  • Apply CDM Regulations proportionately and practically at each project stage
  • Serve as a visible, approachable safety contact for employees and contractors

Pre‑Construction & Project Support

  • Offer H&S input during project planning, design reviews and mobilisation
  • Attend site and project meetings to highlight risks and recommend workable controls
  • Support project teams in developing effective, proportional mitigations

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct regular site visits across the UK
  • Build strong relationships with site teams, contractors and client representatives
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with individuals at all levels
  • Escalate issues appropriately and support senior stakeholders when required

Process Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Support development and refinement of H&S processes, documentation and systems
  • Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in how H&S is applied across projects


Skills & Experience
Essential

  • Experience in construction health & safety within live project environments
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and duty‑holder responsibilities
  • Experience working within operational or industrial‑type settings
  • Comfortable engaging directly with project teams, contractors and clients
  • Clear, credible communication style across all levels
  • Calm, pragmatic approach to managing risk and competing priorities
  • Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly


Desirable

  • Experience supporting technically complex or engineering‑focused projects
  • Experience improving H&S documentation, systems or processes
  • Exposure to the Principal Designer role
