Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Emergency Department at Wexham Park Hospital. Our modern Emergency Department opened in Spring 2019 and includes a dedicated Paediatric Emergency Department with its own resuscitation bay.
Patient safety and high-quality care are our priorities. The Paediatric Emergency Department currently sees approximately one third of all Emergency Department attendances, offering a fast-paced and varied clinical environment.
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Paediatric Staff Nurses with an interest in emergency medicine. You will work closely with children and their families, delivering compassionate, family-centred care to patients presenting with minor illness and injury, paediatric trauma, and the critically unwell child requiring resuscitation.
We actively support professional development and offer a range of in-house training, including safeguarding, domestic abuse awareness, plastering and suturing, venepuncture and cannulation, and intravenous therapy. Further development opportunities include the High Dependency Module, Mentorship Course, Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS), and European/Advanced Paediatric Life Support (EPLS/APLS).
Establishes a good working environment in which all children and their families receive a high standard of care.
• In conjunction with the team leader be responsible for an identified area of clinical practice within the Children’s Emergency Department.
• Assess formulate and evaluate practice based programmes for children and young people in conjunction with their families and supervise the junior members of staff with their programmes of care.
• Maintain a learning environment enabling learner nurses to achieve learner objectives.
• Act as a role model to junior staff in Children’s Emergency Department.
• Act as a resource for the Emergency Department for Child protection Issues.
• Participate in the induction of all new staff.
• Maintain own continuous professional development.
• Any other duties, which may be requested by the manager, to facilitate the smooth running of the department.
