Summary

Job title: Personal Assistant

Hours of work: 4 hours during term times, 8 hours in the holidays

Introduction:
A committed, caring and flexible Personal Assistant is required to support a 17 year old, with taking him out into the local community and supporting him with independence.
He loves activities such as going for walks, going for ice-cream, swimming and jump jam.
Hours are to be worked flexibly as required and agreed in advance.
This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable me to manage my support with the assistance of a PA, enabling him to get out into the community. Must have own transport and a full, clean driving licence and be DBS checked.

Main Duties:
• Support and encourage him with activities of interest.
• Support and encourage to try new activities and skills to improve my confidence and abilities.
• Ensure my safety at all times during your working period.
• Become a friend and engage in conversations.
• Local to the area would be beneficial.
• Support and encourage with independent living skills.

Person Specification:
• Active and energetic.
• Proactive individual with local knowledge.
• A good sense of humour.
• Caring, honest, responsible and patient.
• Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
• Reliable with good time keeping.
• Able to use own initiative and be self-motivated.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be aware of privacy.
• An ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
• Good communication and inter-personal skills.

A full driving license and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.

Benefits
5.6 weeks’ holiday per year (pro rata).
Sick pay at SSP rate.
Training provided if required, where available.

This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant.
