Summary
Job Description:
Role Purpose:
To deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. The Staff Nurse will promote dignity, independence, and wellbeing while working in line with NMC standards, CQC regulations, and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments on admission and ongoing reviews.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.
Administer medications safely in line with NMC guidelines.
Perform clinical procedures including wound care, catheter care, PEG feeding, and injections.
Monitor vital signs and recognise early signs of deterioration.
Manage residents with complex needs including dementia, diabetes, stroke, and end-of-life care.
Maintain accurate clinical records and care documentation.
Leadership & Teamwork
Supervise and support healthcare assistants and junior staff.
Lead shifts and ensure safe staffing levels.
Participate in handovers and MDT meetings.
Support training, mentoring, and induction of new staff.
Safeguarding & Governance
Promote safeguarding of adults at risk and escalate concerns appropriately.
Follow infection prevention and control policies.
Ensure compliance with CQC standards and internal audits.
Participate in incident reporting and investigations.
Resident & Family Engagement
Communicate effectively with residents and relatives.
Provide emotional support and reassurance.
Involve families in care planning where appropriate.
Health Promotion
Support residents to maintain independence and quality of life.
Encourage mobility, nutrition, hydration, and social interaction.

Valid NMC registration (RGN/RMN)
