Summary
Title: Building Surveyor Repairs and Maintenance
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £48,000 per annum to £55,000 per annum (London weighted salary) dependant on experience plus Essential Car User allowance of £1,300 per annum*
Grade: 9
Working Location: Covering L&Q west region inclusive of West London and Home Counties
Persona: Agile worker 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/site
Reporting Office: London, Stratford
Closing Date: Friday 30th January at 11pm

Join our Surveying Team at L&Q:
Our Maintenance Services team are looking for an experienced surveyor to join our west surveying team. This is a key position to the delivery of excellent customer services to our residents. In this position you will cover West London and Home Counties.
Your impact in the role:
A large part of this role will involve carrying out internal and external inspections on both occupied and void properties, then providing technical advice to the team and managing complex projects including liaising with residents and contractors, and other third parties as necessary. The postholder will monitor quality of work, value for money and customer satisfaction.
Our Property Surveyors carry out detailed property inspections to all types of domestic properties across all contract areas, including routine and complex repairs issues, Damp & Mould surveys, and specify appropriate remedial works.
Candidates will have had extensive experience in producing work specifications and will be confident in providing costs and recommendations. You will also be able to produce condition reports. As well as a good understanding of construction and building methods gained by previous experience in a similar role. You will have a knowledge of contract and housing law and will have ideally worked for Housing Associations or Local Authorities
Customer Service is at the forefront of everything we do. Our surveyors will aim to create a positive impact on our residents’ lives and will be passionate and act with determination to resolve resident complaints and issues.
You will be confident in handling complaints and Councillor and MP enquiries. This includes site visits related to complaints. you will be responsible for seeing enquires through to resolution. You will also support the Disrepair team.
Candidates will be able to produce accurate reports, work orders and specifications using NHF SOR’s and other tools. Ensuring that works are referred to the correct area of the business for resolution.
You will have to manage budgets and play an active role in the variation approval process, having regard to standing orders, authorisation of expenditure and prevention of fraud. Experience in managing budgets is essential.
You will have experience in liaising with loss adjusters and overseeing different kinds of insurance work such as fire, flood damage and theft.
Health and safety awareness is vital in this role, and we expect our surveyors to be able to demonstrate a good knowledge and application of Health and Safety and compliance at all times.
You will be able to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and will have excellent communication skills. You will have had experience working with contractors and managing contracts.
What you'll bring:
Our surveyors’ should ideally hold a HNC, HND or similar qualification please reference this in your application. We will consider candidates with extensive surveying experience who are committed to ongoing CPD
Have gained experience working with varied housing stock. Ideally within Social Housing or similar environment
Have a good understanding of Health and Safety
Excellent customer service
Ability to undertake complex property inspections and create itemised work specifications
Knowledge and experience using NHF
