Summary

£31,164 - £50,256 per annum (Dependent on previous service) per annum and generous benefits package. Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Located near Thurso in Caithness, it hosts one of our Operational Policing Units and a first-class firearms training facility.
The CNC is a specialist armed police service dedicated to protecting the civil nuclear industry and other critical infrastructure. You’ll join a highly trained, disciplined team providing 24/7 armed response—patrolling nuclear sites and working with local Home Office forces. We also support national operations such as Operation Temperer.

Working Pattern & Relocation Support
4-on/4-off 12-hour shifts offer excellent work/life balance.
Dedicated time during shifts to maintain fitness.
Up to £5,000 relocation support, assessed individually.

Training
19-week residential Initial Foundation Programme (IFP) with world-class firearms instruction—no prior firearms experience required.
Transferees with AFO/ARV training complete a condensed 4-week programme.
Training venues are aligned with personal circumstances; at least one local course annually in Caithness (first week in Oxfordshire).

After a 6-month probation, you may apply for specialist roles such as:

Dog Handler
Special Branch
Firearms Instructor
Strategic Escort Group Officer

Eligibility
Full manual driving licence required.
Must have passed probation with current or previous force.

Transferee Benefits
Previous salary and leave entitlements typically honoured.
Standard leave: 25 days (200 hours) plus bank holidays, increasing up to 30 days with service.
