Salary: £27,319 per annum + Benefits
About Us
Aston Students’ Union (SU) is an independent charity and membership organisation dedicated to enhancing the student experience at Aston University. Led by elected student officers and supported by a professional staff team, we provide a wide range of services including over 100 clubs and societies, student representation, accommodation support, and headline events throughout the year.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and creative Student Engagement Coordinator to support and develop our vibrant student-led societies. You will play a key role in coordinating events, training, and activities, while helping to expand and sustain the Union’s diverse student societies. This is an exciting opportunity to directly impact students’ university experience, helping them develop skills, confidence, and employability credentials.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and develop student societies and project groups.
• Organise and assist with student volunteer events and activities.
• Coordinate induction and ongoing training for society committee members.
• Encourage new societies to form and expand existing ones.
• Oversee society finances and ensure compliance with Union procedures.
• Monitor and facilitate society events, trips, guest speakers, and activities.
• Promote society achievements and support students in translating experiences into employability skills.
• Ensure effective use of the Students’ Union website and other communication channels.
• Support the wider Student Activities and Voice team and contribute to University initiatives such as the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
Person Specification
Essential:
• Positive “can do” attitude.
• Good general education (degree-level preferred, GCSE Math’s & English or equivalent).
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and IT skills.
• Innovative with strong marketing and promotional skills.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours for events as required.
Desirable:
• Experience working in a student union or higher education setting.
• Experience supporting elected representatives or external partnerships.
• Knowledge of student activities and event management.
