Summary
Student mentor - Alternative Provision
Birmingham
£100-£125 per day (dependent on working hours)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, long-term temp-to-perm (Full Academic Year)
Long Term Futures is looking to recruit an experienced, approachable and adaptable behaviour mentor to support students in an Alternative Provision in Birmingham. The provision is specifically designed to support students who struggle with mainstream education.
Whilst delivering an amazing standard of education is still of the utmost importance, identifying where and when to be flexible is key with the students. This is a brilliant opportunity for somebody who has experience working with SEND and/or SEMH, or for somebody who maybe attended an Alternative Provision, themselves.
About the Role
Whilst working closely with Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will be working across the provision and may have specific learners under your wing. Your duties will include:
- Supporting the student(s) whilst following the specific policies that are in place
- Building trusting relationships with students
- Following strict safeguarding policies and procedures, and reporting any incidents to the DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead)
- Being adaptable - learners may need to take an unscheduled break to regulate
- Helping the student(s) develop resilience, self-regulation and positive social interaction
- Supporting teachers in the delivery of amazing, well-structured lessons
- Using structured routines, clear expectations and positive reinforcement
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH or ADHD
- A nurturing, empathetic approach whilst being confident at enforcing clear boundaries
- Calmness during instances of challenging behaviour and the ability to de-escalate
- Somebody who attended Alternative Provision as a young person would be of interest
- Strong understanding of safeguarding - Some of these students are 'high-risk'
- A clean, UK Driving License is ESSENTIAL
Why Work with Long Term Futures?
* Long-term placements offering stability and meaningful impact
* Weekly pay via our streamlined digital system
