We are looking for someone who is patient, kind and thoughtful, with a good sense of humour, and maybe some experience of autism, to come to our home and help our son, aged 23, to become more independent and to achieve some small goals and steps towards moving forwards, gaining confidence and boosting his self-esteem.
He is intelligent and articulate and has a great sense of humour. He enjoys playing Dungeons and Dragons online and is particularly good at creating characters and storylines. He enjoys playing Borderlands and is an avid watcher of the Vtuber: Geega. He likes to exercise at home to music.
He has very recently been diagnosed with Level 1 autism (high-functioning) and is still coming to terms with that. He struggles with anxiety, OCD and poor mental health at times. Routines are important to him. He has some sensory issues, which especially affect his diet, and some social communication issues. He struggles with some executive functioning skills. Motivation and finding things that interest him are key.
He has many strengths but has struggled to make the transition into work or further education. Sadly, he missed out on work experience at school and also at college, but he has a Level 3 qualification in Game Design, where he gained a merit and a distinction. This is a rewarding role for the right person.
