Pay: £13.90 per hour

Hours: 25 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 8:00pm
(Weekend working may be required depending on business needs)
Contract: 52-week contract

About the Role:

We are recruiting a School Cleaning Supervisor to help deliver a high-quality, safe, and welcoming environment at Edinburgh Academy Senior School.This is a hands-on supervisory role, where you’ll lead by example, support your team on the ground, and ensure cleaning standards are consistently met across the school.

You’ll work closely with the Contract Manager and Cleaning Manager, overseeing both planned and dynamic cleaning activities, including floor care and reactive cleaning tasks throughout the school day.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being visible, proactive, and directly involved in daily cleaning operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Contract Manager and Cleaning Manager in the day-to-day delivery of cleaning services
  • Supervise cleaning teams and activelyparticipatein dynamic and reactive cleaning, including floors and high-traffic areas
  • Ensure all cleaning standards meet Sodexo and client expectations
  • Deliver services in line with SLAs and KPIs, maintaining high standards at all times
  • Manage resources and costs within agreed budgets
  • Enforce Health & Safety, COSHH, fire safety, hygiene, and safe systems of work
  • Monitor performance and contribute to reviews and appraisals

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the daily delivery of cleaning services to agreed quality, safety, and performance standards
  • Carry out and oversee dynamic cleaning, floor maintenance, and ad-hoc cleaning tasks as required
  • Allocate work, manage rotas, and support the team with attendance, sickness, and annual leave
  • Ensure cleaning schedules are followed, communicated, trained, and recorded
  • Conduct regular audits, monthly performance checks, and safety walks
  • Ensureappropriate safetysignage is always in place
  • Control cleaning materials, chemicals, and stores, ensuring safe storage and usage
  • Maintain strong knowledge of COSHH and chemical handling
  • Monitor equipment condition and arrange repairs or replacements when required
  • Identify training needs and deliver on-the-job training to cleaning operatives
  • Communicate professionally with clients, staff, and visitors
  • Report incidents, accidents, near misses, complaints, and compliments promptly
  • Provide cover across other areas during holidays or sickness whenrequired
  • Attend training sessions and team meetings, cascading information to staff
  • Promote positive working relationships and a professional company image
  • Carry out additional reasonable duties, including occasional overtime

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience in the cleaning or housekeeping industry
  • Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to manage dynamic cleaning environments
  • Strong communicationand customer service skills
  • Good knowledge of cleaning standards, methods, and innovations
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements
  • High standards of personal hygiene and professional presentation
