Pay: £13.90 per hour
Hours: 25 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 3:00pm – 8:00pm (weekend working may be required depending on business needs)
Contract: 52-week contract

About the Role

We are recruiting a School Cleaning Supervisor to support the delivery of a high-quality cleaning service at Edinburgh Academy Senior School. You will work closely with the Contract Manager and Cleaning Manager to ensure cleaning services are delivered in line with Sodexo and client standards, contractual requirements, and agreed performance and financial targets.

This is a hands-on supervisory role, ideal for someone with experience leading teams in a compliance-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Contract Manager and Cleaning Manager with the day-to-day delivery of cleaning services

  • Supervise and control cleaning operations in line with company and client specifications

  • Ensure all cleaning standards meet Sodexo and client requirements

  • Manage costs within agreed budgets and resources

  • Deliver consistent service in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Actively enforce all Health & Safety, COSHH, fire safety, hygiene, and safe working practices

  • Monitor KPIs as part of performance reviews and appraisals


What You’ll Do
  • Oversee daily management and maintenance of cleaning services to agreed qualitative, financial, and performance targets

  • Allocate work to cleaning teams, plan rotas, and manage hours, sickness, and annual leave

  • Ensure cleaning standards are scheduled, communicated, trained, and recorded

  • Carry out regular audits, monthly performance checks, and two safety walks per month

  • Ensure appropriate safety signage is used at all times

  • Control cleaning materials, chemicals, and stores, ensuring safe storage and usage

  • Maintain accurate knowledge of COSHH regulations and chemical usage

  • Monitor equipment condition, arrange repairs or replacements, and ensure equipment is safe to use

  • Identify training needs and deliver training to cleaning operatives as required

  • Communicate professionally with clients, customers, and colleagues

  • Report incidents, accidents, complaints, compliments, and near misses promptly

  • Provide cover across other areas during holidays or sickness when required

  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and cascade information to staff

  • Promote positive working relationships and a professional company image at all times

  • Carry out additional reasonable duties as required by management, including occasional overtime


What You Bring
  • Proven experience in the housekeeping or cleaning industry

  • Experience supervising and leading teams

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Good knowledge of cleaning standards, processes, and innovations

  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety and compliance requirements

  • High standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance

Desirable

  • BICSc Level 1 Certificate or equivalent

  • Experience working in a standards-driven or compliance-focused environment
