Summary
Work as an independent practitioner supporting the Trauma Team in the management of trauma patients. Facilitate and support the effective and efficient management of the major trauma caseload ensuring diagnostics and intervention are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner, in line with protocols, policies and procedures. Act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-disciplinary team within the Trust. To liaise with the Consultants; Trauma Team; ICU; and rehabilitation services to ensure streamlined pathway driven service with excellent clinical outcomes. Provide exemplary leadership, as part of own clinical role, in the management of major trauma, ensuring adherence to Trust and Regional Network Policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Support service development in accordance with the Trauma network recommendations, evidenced based practice and clinical standards within the speciality. To monitor and maintain the Trauma Unit and operational policies, protocols, annual plan and work plan for Trauma Reaccreditation and Peer Review. Attend Trauma Calls and monitor inpatient stays, to provide expertise and guidance on best practice, ensuring that trauma standards are met. Working closely with the Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy teams, to oversee and co-ordinate the completion and delivery of Rehabilitation prescriptions and ensure the rehabilitation pathway meets the regional standard. Liaise with Regional Trauma Centres and Units to ensure effective patient flow, taking an active role in facilitating the reverse transfer process. Working with the Trust Patient Flow Team re: admissions. To alert senior clinical and operational management staff regarding any operational issues relating to access/capacity in a timely manner, to allow any further action to be taken. ***Please see the attached job description for a full list of roles and responsibilities***
