Summary

As a Social Worker in our Out of Hours Service, you’ll be at the frontline of safeguarding and supporting vulnerable adults during times of crisis. This is a role where your expertise and quick thinking will make a real difference – providing urgent interventions, protecting individuals from harm, and ensuring they receive the right support when they need it most.

You’ll work collaboratively with partner agencies and use your professional judgment to deliver solutions that promote dignity, independence, and empowerment. Every decision you make will have a lasting impact on improving lives and shaping safer futures.

What you’ll do
• Respond to urgent referrals, assess risks and needs, and implement safeguarding actions.
• Deliver person-centred interventions that promote independence and positive outcomes.
• Liaise effectively with partner agencies and share information appropriately to safeguard adults.
• Maintain accurate case records and produce clear reports to support decision-making.
• Contribute to a supportive, reflective team culture and continuous service improvement.

What we’re looking for
• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
• Experience working with vulnerable adults in a UK-based statutory setting.
• Strong communication, mediation and negotiation skills; confident report writing.
• Ability to assess risk, analyse information and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding, legal frameworks, equality, and data protection.

Please note: This is a 24/7 service. You’ll work a shift pattern including early, late and sleep-in shifts, every other weekend and Bank Holidays, with enhancements paid in line with Hampshire County Council salary policy.
