Summary
We are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Admin Officer to join our primary school office team. This is a busy, front-facing role, providing a high-quality reception service to parents and visitors, responding to enquiries in person, by phone and by email, and taking messages. You will manage the school’s main inbox and support school communications, including letters, calls and emails.The role includes a range of general administration duties, such as stock control for stationery, distributing resources, maintaining office equipment, processing purchase orders, confirming deliveries and liaising with suppliers. You will also support the Headteacher with correspondence, arranging hospitality for visitors, filing/record keeping and prioritising urgent matters, while working closely with the wider admin team to keep the school running smoothly.You will have responsibility for whole-school admissions for Reception, Nursery and in-year starters. This includes liaising with Merton, checking relevant systems, making offers to parents, scheduling teacher meetings, issuing starter packs, and ensuring documents and contact details are recorded accurately on SIMS.You will also support whole-school attendance, ensuring registers are completed correctly, calling parents on the first day of absence, keeping accurate records, maintaining a persistent absence tracker, and working with the Education Welfare Officer to monitor pupils who need support.The post involves maintaining pupil data (currently SIMS), supporting census and transfer processes (including Year 6 transition information), and administering income and payments for dinners, trips and clubs via ParentPay. You will help maintain financial records for school services and assist with statutory and non-statutory returns and audits.Safeguarding and confidentiality are essential. You will follow school procedures, ensure all visitors are checked and recorded, support welfare/first aid procedures for unwell or injured pupils (as required), and assist with DBS and pre-employment checks for staff and volunteers.
