Summary
Neway International are seeking a HR Business Partner to join our client based with Achieving for Children.
Location: 44 York Street, Twickenham / Guildhall 2, Kingston / Maidenhead Town Hall
Hours: 36 per week, Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00
Pay Rate: £27.81 PAYE / £36.40 Umbrella
Hybrid Working: Minimum 2 days per week on site
Length of Placement: 6 months, with potential extension

Achieving for Children (AfC) is a not‑for‑profit organisation delivering children’s services across Kingston, Richmond and Windsor & Maidenhead. Their HR function plays a vital role in supporting leaders, ensuring fair and lawful decision‑making, and enabling a positive, well‑managed workforce environment. This role provides essential cover during a secondment period.
The Role
As a HR Business Partner, you will provide high‑quality, professional HR support to operational and strategic leaders across AfC. You will lead on complex employee relations matters, coach managers through people‑related decisions, and ensure all actions align with employment law, organisational policy and best practice.
You will work across multiple locations, partnering closely with managers, HR colleagues, legal teams and union representatives to resolve issues, support organisational change and contribute to a positive employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert advice and coaching to managers on complex and non‑complex ER cases
Lead and manage ER cases from initial assessment through to satisfactory resolution
Work collaboratively with unions, ensuring constructive and transparent relationships
Support organisational change, including restructures and workforce planning
Partner with finance leads to prepare for workforce changes
Advise Strategy and Transformation teams on fair and lawful implementation of change
Support L&D and OD teams where people‑related guidance is required
Lead on TUPE processes (inbound and outbound)
Conduct policy reviews and contribute to continuous improvement
Maintain oversight of all ER casework across AfC
Produce accurate people data and reporting to support informed decision‑making
Candidate Requirements
Up‑to‑date knowledge of employment law and ER best practice
Proven experience managing complex ER cases from start to finish
Strong advisory and coaching skills, supporting HR colleagues, managers and leaders
Experience working with unions in a collaborative and professional manner
Ability to build strong relationships with legal teams and key stakeholders
Confident, solutions‑focused approach with excellent judgement
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
