- Contract: Long-term (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures is working in partnership with a warm, community-focused primary school in Rubery, Birmingham, to appoint a dedicated Intervention Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 cohort. This full-time position is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident delivering targeted interventions, supporting pupils with SEND, and helping learners close attainment gaps.
You will play a key role in improving pupil outcomes by working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, delivering structured intervention sessions, and providing tailored in-class support to ensure every child makes consistent progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted intervention sessions in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Support learning within the Year 5 classroom alongside the class teacher.
- Provide focused support for pupils with SEND, including pupils with EHCPs.
- Live mark pupils' work, offering immediate feedback and adapting support as needed.
- Lead and support keep-up and catch-up tutoring sessions in the afternoons.
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement in line with school policies.
- Monitor pupil progress and communicate concerns to the class teacher and SENCo.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (or a relevant degree).
- At least one year's experience working in a Key Stage Two setting.
- Experience delivering interventions and targeted academic support.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEND and personalised learning plans.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, nurturing approach.
- Confidence adapting support in real time based on pupil understanding.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and the SENCo.
