Office based at Princess Buildings, Halifax.

The legal service department is looking to appoint a Legal Practice Assistant to join our Business Support team. The post holder will provide support to members of the team and to all legal teams within the service.

Duties of the post include support for the Legal Practice Officers in effective, efficient practice management, and business support function including;


• Development and maintenance of systems and procedures
• Receiving, filtering, and redirecting incoming emails
• Processing new matters onto the case management system
• Generation and processing of accounts for income and expenditure
• Support the Clerk to the independent Education Appeals Panel and Transport Appeals
• Generate sundry debtor accounts for the recovery of third-party legal fees
• Preparing legal documentation and the retrieval of legal documents / associated records stored in the Town Hall archive
• Provide accurate, timely and comprehensive administrative support to Legal Services
• Deal with sensitive personal data and highly confidential information in compliance with data protection and other relevant legal obligations
• Process legal Notices and Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, and the Town Police Clauses Act.

You should be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively as part of a team. The candidate must be highly organised and be able to work independently (with supervision), under pressure and to tight deadlines.
