We are currently seeking to recruit a full-time Legal Assistant to join our Huddersfield office. The successful applicant must have the ability of working cohesively within a team, as well as being able to work with minimum supervision.
As a Legal Assistant, you will provide administrative support to our solicitors and to assist them on case matters as follows:
Responsibilities:
- Assist Solicitors in preparing legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, contracts, and agreements
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases.
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents in accordance with the firm's office procedures.
- Schedule appointments, meetings and key dates.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in case matters.
- Prepare correspondence and draft legal documents
- Assist with case preparation, including organizing exhibits and coordinating with all parties relevant to the matter.
- Perform general administrative tasks such as answering phone calls and completion of forms relating to client matter.
- To ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the office practice & procedures
- To undertake the work on case files using the firm's case management software, ensuring all correspondence and documents are saved in accordance with the firm's practice and procedures.
- To become familiar with the areas of law being practiced by the firm and the updates on each area.
- To become familiar with the SRA Code of Conduct and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- To be able to take instructions from client on new matters and open the file in accordance with the office practice and procedures.
- To be able to work under pressure and have the ability to prioritise work.
- To be able to take instructions to complete tasks delegated by supervising solicitor.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and research skills to analyze legal issues and gather relevant information.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines.
- Proficient in using legal software and databases for research and document management.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in legal documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Client care service-oriented mindset to provide support to clients in a professional manner.
- Communication and IT skills and the ability to work on online portals.
- Professional, willing and proactive attitude towards work.
- Enthusiastic, friendly and able to work own their own as well as part of a team with minimum supervision.
- Undertake training as and when required to ensure that matters are dealt with competently.
Types of Applicants:
- This role would be ideal for someone who has completed the Legal Practice Course and is seeking a Training Contract which may be considered after a period of successful performance.
- The role would also suit someone who is seeking to qualify as a solicitor by undertaking the Solicitors Qualifying Exam.
- The role would also suit any person who is currently in the UK as a student looking for employment with a possibility of being sponsored for a Skilled Worker Visa.
- The role would also suit someone who wishes to remain as a Legal Assistant with long term prospects with the firm.
Please note that all positions at our company are subject to an unpaid work trial for a period of 14 to 28 days.
