Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens is embarking on an ambitious andpound;13.6m redevelopment of its much-loved museum at the heart of the city.



With andpound;5.2m secured from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), this transformative project will deliver major changes to the museumandrsquo;s ground floor, including:

- A new front entrance from Mowbray Park

- Two new collection galleries featuring revitalized displays and interpretation

- Welcoming social spaces for visitors

- A vibrant community engagement hub, The Growing Space



All of this will be supported by a four-year activity plan packed with exciting events and initiatives designed to reach deep into our communities.



Led by the Senior Manager andndash; Museum Redevelopment and supported by the museum senior team within the wider Cultural Service, we are now recruiting for a Technical Support Officer.



The Technical Support Officer will play a crucial role in providing operational and technical support to the Museum Redevelopment Project, ensuring the seamless delivery of all programme elements. Responsibilities include overseeing financial administration, coordinating statistical data for reporting, and facilitating effective communication between the activity programme, capital works, and interpretation strands. Working closely with the Senior Manager andndash; Museum Redevelopment, the role will help keep the project on schedule, within budget, and compliant with conditions set by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and other funders. Key tasks include supporting technical meetings, tracking actions and outcomes, monitoring both capital and revenue budgets, and managing procurement in line with council and funder requirements. Additional duties involve processing payments to suppliers, artists, and contractors, assisting with funding applications, and contributing to the delivery of the projectandrsquo;s communications strategy.
