Group Financial Controller at Liberty
Location: Knowsley
Salary: Competitive + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, 12-15 month FTC role
Are you an experienced finance leader ready to make a significant impact? Liberty Group seek a Group Financial Controller to take charge of our finance, payroll, and processing functions, leading a team of 25 professionals. This is a pivotal role where you’ll ensure robust financial governance, accurate reporting and drive strategic improvements across the group
Your Role:
Lead the group finance, payroll, and processing teams, fostering a culture of excellence and compliance
Oversee monthly financial close processes, ensuring accurate consolidated balance sheets and management accounts
Govern balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong valuation processes for all accounts
Harmonise accounting policies across Liberty Group and align with Wates Property Services
Manage intercompany consolidation, annual audits, and statutory accounts production
Ensure compliance with all business taxes (VAT, CIS, IR35, PAYE, etc.) and make key tax-related decisions
Oversee payroll and processing functions for timely and accurate operations
Drive key business improvement projects, including system implementations and transitions
Manage treasury functions and support transactions related projects
What we need from you:
Qualified ICAEW or ACCA Accountant with at least 8 years post-qualification experience
Proven track record of leading sizeable finance teams
Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards, tax compliance, and financial controls
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
Exceptional decision making abilities and a proactive approach to problem solving
